Marriyum Aurangzeb terms screen tourism as best way to propagate country's narrative


ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has expressed pleasure that the film industry of country is being revived as the result of the prudent policies of incumbent government.

She was addressing the High achievers of the National Amateur Film Festival Awards in Islamabad today.

Highlighting the privileges being offered by the government to film industry, she said the income of film industry and the imported equipment related to the production of the film and drama making have been exempted from tax. Moreover, the income of cinemas has also been exempted from tax for next ten years.

The Minister said corporate sector is also being encouraged to invest in the film industry.

She said government also announced the Film Finance Fund of two billion rupees with an aim to provide grants to the budding film makers.

Terming the screen tourism as the best way to propagate the country's narrative, the Minister said series of tax exemptions for film industry and Film Finance Fund will not only bring value but also bridge the gaps of this sector.

The Minister said several private educational institutions including LUMS, NUST and Iqra introduced film production and drama as a degree courses in the country.

The Minister asked the participants that a prolific career is waiting for all of you as training in this field is also being imparted in the academies of Radio Pakistan, Pakistan Television and Information Services Academy.

 اسلام آباد (92 نیوز) وزیر اطلاعات و نشریات مریم اورنگزیب نے اس بات پر مسرت کا اظہار کیا ہے کہ موجودہ حکومت کی دانشمندانہ پالیسیوں کے نتیجے میں ملک کی فلم انڈسٹری بحال ہو رہی ہے۔وہ آج اسلام آباد میں نیشنل امیچور فلم فیسٹیول ایوارڈز کی اعلیٰ کارکردگی کا مظاہرہ کرنے والوں سے خطاب کر رہی تھیں۔حکومت کی طرف سے فلم انڈسٹری کو دی جانے والی مراعات پر روشنی ڈالتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ فلم انڈسٹری کی آمدنی اور فلم کی تیاری اور ڈرامہ سازی سے متعلق درآمدی آلات کو ٹیکس سے مستثنیٰ قرار دیا گیا ہے۔ مزید یہ کہ سینما گھروں کی آمدنی کو بھی اگلے دس سال کے لیے ٹیکس سے استثنیٰ دیا گیا ہے۔وزیر موصوف نے کہا کہ کارپوریٹ سیکٹر کو بھی فلم انڈسٹری میں سرمایہ کاری کرنے کی ترغیب دی جا رہی ہے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ حکومت نے دو ارب روپے کے فلم فنانس فنڈ کا بھی اعلان کیا ہے جس کا مقصد ابھرتے ہوئے فلم سازوں کو گرانٹ فراہم کرنا ہے۔اسکرین ٹورازم کو ملک کے بیانیے کو آگے بڑھانے کا بہترین طریقہ قرار دیتے ہوئے، وزیر نے کہا کہ فلم انڈسٹری اور فلم فنانس فنڈ کے لیے ٹیکس چھوٹ کا سلسلہ نہ صرف قدر لائے گا بلکہ اس شعبے کے خلا کو بھی پُر کرے گا۔وزیر نے کہا کہ LUMS، NUST اور اقرا سمیت متعدد نجی تعلیمی اداروں نے ملک میں فلم پروڈکشن اور ڈرامہ کو ڈگری کورسز کے طور پر متعارف کرایا۔وفاقی وزیر نے شرکاء سے کہا کہ آپ سب کا ایک شاندار کیریئر منتظر ہے کیونکہ ریڈیو پاکستان، پاکستان ٹیلی ویژن اور انفارمیشن سروسز اکیڈمی کی اکیڈمیوں میں بھی اس شعبے میں تربیت دی جا رہی ہے۔
